Essential Oils kept me outta prison!

I’m so glad to have started my doTERRA journey when I did. I don’t know how I would have handled this past week if not for the help of some amazing liquid in small brown bottles.

So wives, we’ve all had moments when we could kill our husbands, no offense to the men reading this blog, I’m sure there are times when the hubsters want to kill us too… my husband hates that I leave “mess” everywhere and drink all the milk. Mostly, of course, its just a figure of speech and we don’t mean it. However, Monday morning I discovered that hubby had thrown out my $95 pair of chocolatica shoes, AND the garbage truck had already been. My husband has seen me mad before, he’s seen me rant and rave, and even throw an adult tanti at my worst, but this time I was so mad, I appeared calm. It was that eye of the storm mad, where you portray a calm and measured exterior but you are seething on the inside. And he knew he’d effed up, he even offered to buy me a new pair.

I knew that once the eye of the storm passed it was not going to be pretty… I needed to calm down and calm down fast! You see, I hate shoes as a rule, and go barefoot as much as possible, but these were the first shoes I had been excited about since Doc Marten’s in the mid 90s. AND HE THREW THEM OUT FOR NO REASON! Apparently mistook them for a pair of our six year old daughter’s shoes that she had outgrown! I mean I know my foot isn’t big but COME ON!

Reason number 1 for not killing husband: I love him.

BUT HE THREW OUT MY CHOCOLATICAS!

Reason number 2 for not killing husband: He is father of our child.

BUT HE THREW OUT MY CHOCOLATICAS!

Reason number 3 for not killing husband: Someone needs to dispose of big spiders from the house.

BUT HE THREW OUT MY CHOCOLATICAS!

Ok so as you may have figured, I’m a little pissed off. I really needed to calm my farm. Vetiver, thank the gods I had some Vetiver on hand or I might have been hauled off by the fuzz. I mixed a few drops in with some coconut oil and massaged it into my feet and took myself off for a restful lay down on my bed. Solitude and Vetiver= bliss.

So to conclude- husband still alive and unscathed; I’m sad about my shoes but I’ll get over it in time, and the Vetiver provided a lovely calming and restful effect on my whole body which is exactly what I needed.

I’m a doTERRA Wellness Advocate, you can purchase oils and/or contact me here. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have.

Beginning my doTERRA journey

I recently took the opportunity to join doTERRA as a wellness advocate. Not only do I get to enjoy their products at wholesale price, but I also get to share my love of essential oils with others and build a business if I wish.

This is something I had been wanting to do for a while. I was first introduced to essential oils over twenty years ago when I was in my late teens. I thought they were pretty cool and I purchased a few but I didn’t really know what to do with them. Fast forward to about seven years ago when I was having my daughter; I started to really become concerned with what I put in my body (in terms of medications) and what harmful chemicals were lurking in the cleaning products I used around the home… what might be potentially harmful for my baby?

Most of us, when faced with the safety concerns of our most precious little loves, start to ask these questions and are horrified to learn what a chemical minefield our homes tend to be. So then we start asking what we can do to change this, as it is not just our family we become concerned about, but also the planet… what are we doing?!

It was at this time that I began to discover what to do with those essential oils. Not only do they smell pretty when diffused, but they can be used in a range of homemade/diy products such as skin care and home cleaning products. Since I love to diy, this was right up my alley. Not only could I be creative and save a buck, but I knew exactly what was in the products I was using and could be satisfied that they were safe.

I was also very keen to know how essential oils may help me physically and emotionally. I have a host of health problems and hate taking medication though it is a necessity for me. But if I could at least boot painkillers for a more natural option then that would ultimately have to be better for me. There were just so many reasons to explore essential oils that the next thing I had to do was learn which brands were of the best quality.

In the end it came down to doTERRA. I was impressed by them for several reasons. Their products are so pure that certain (not all) oils are actually ingestible, and they give back to the communities where their products are sourced. The other big selling point for me was that you can join as a wholesale customer and not be pinned down to holding so many “parties” a month or selling x amount of product a month or get kicked off the program. I can choose to buy or not as I please, and I can choose to share knowledge and my experiences with the products or not as I please; there is absolutely no pressure what so ever, so if the car rego is due that month and I simply can’t afford to purchase any oils, so be it, I won’t be kicked out like so many other “party plan” businesses I have been involved in in the past. By the way, doTERRA is not a “party plan” but I’m going to assume a lot of people would assume that it was until they learned more about it.

So my intention is to blog my experiences with the oils and associated products as I integrate them into my life and home. So watch this space for reviews coming in the near future.
